Stormy Weather

Tyler & I were up late last night playing upwords and spending some one-on-one time. It was so nice that we ended up getting to bed around 1am. Therefore, I was up around 9:30am this morning, which got me off to a late start today. Since it's friday Anna didn't have any school. We played some games and ate together, then she watched a movie while I posted some items on ebay. Tyler called around noon and said that the power was off on-base. 20 minutes later he was home! YEA! So we decided to go shopping for a washer/dryer. We found what we wanted but they were out of stock, so we're going to order them. :)

This evening we went to our Ward Christmas Party. Shereena, a less active philippina woman--the one with 5 kids under the age of 4 that I've mentioned in earlier posts, came with her kids. We sat with her & helped out with her kids. All went well. She is planning to come to church on sunday. I hope that she will have desires to become active in church. My friend, Sarah, gave me a Christmas present that she picked up while in England. It's a beautiful silver necklace with a blue pendant. It's really lovely...and a great excuse to purchase a matching shirt! ;)

We came home and hurried inside. Currently it's 28 degrees outside and it's quite windy too! I talked to my friend Lauren for quite a while. (she is the friend I went to help in July in OK) Her marriage is doing really really well, however they aren't doing much with the church. From talking with Tyler & I, I feel that she will begin pursuing it again...it can be such an emotional roller coaster doing missionary work, but it's completely worth it.

I'm so glad that Lauren is doing better. That is a huge relief. I've been wondering how they were doing.

I am so impressed that lady is considering going to church. It was hard going by myself with 2. I can't imagine going with 5! What a woman. Just getting that many kids ready in the morning by yourself makes me tired to think about. I honestly have no idea how she does it.

Well, I will actually be going to her house at 8am to help her get them ready. I have to be careful, though, because I have heard from our RS president that she tends to expect help once it has been offered once. I don't want her to expect me to do everything for her. I'm trying to help her be a bit more assertive and take more responsibility for her kids, she tends to pawn them off on others. *sigh*

That is so sweet of you to help. Don't let her take advantage though. Does her tendency to pawn them off lead to their discipline problems? I wish she had a permanent solution that didn't involve insanity. I know I would have gone nuts by now. With that many kids, discipline and consistency are a must. I hope she learns that soon!
