Today Tyler & I went to my dad's ward in Guthrie, which is now part of the Stillwater Stake. It was ward conference and I sang "O Divine Redeemer," which my dad requested. I had previously thought I would be singing this to a ward of which I only knew my family. However, due to the change of stakes, all the leadership in the Stillwater Stake were present--I know them all from when I lived in Stillwater!! So that made me a bit more nervous, especially with President Hansen present and all. Plus, "O Divine Redeemer" isn't an easy piece to sing! I had been praying that the song would go well and that everyone would feel the spirit. Heavenly Father truly blessed me and the song went wonderfully! It was a terrific experience for me. My dad says that I now have a following in Oklahoma...
Afterwards, we had a belated birthday party for me at my dad's house. He made weinerschnitzle (spelling?), mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, & green beans. It was a HUGE feast!!! (and simply delicious!) Then came the time for my traditional pineapple upside-down cake, which I have every birthday. My dad had made it from scratch and it looked wonderful! For candles, they decided it would be fun to use sparklers! Little did they know that it wouldn't be the best idea! While lit, the sparklers spread ash all over the cake. They were so upset about it and wouldn't stop apologizing for it. It was an accident and I found the situation rather funny and memorable!

Hasn't Pres Hansen requested you do that song too? He must have been thrilled! I'm glad it went so well!
Hi Jill,
I'm SO glad you and Tyler are together again, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I wish I had been at church to hear you sing. Love ya,
