Bad Llama

Have you ever seen The Emperor's New Groove? I'm a bad llama. Let's just say that I encouraged my husband to spend some time at home today when he should have been "working." Not good. I was feeling especially needy today and wanted his company. He went in for half of a day, and that felt better than keeping him home the whole day. So can I take credit in sending him to work for the latter half of the day or am I just a bad llama all the way because I kept him home for the morning??

I have $50 burning a hole in my pocket. As you may know, my birthday is coming up. You know, the birthday that most women have and then stay that age every consecutive year: 29 years old. That will be me on September 1st. That means I was born in 1978. Anyhow, my sweet, loving Grandma sent me $50 for my birthday and I can't seem to figure out what to spend it on. Here's some items on my wish list:

Watch
Breadmaker
Bathroom shower curtain/matching rug for our bathroom upstairs
cell phone (I'm not sure if I really want a new one, though...)
waterfall machine (those ones that are relaxing to hear...I'd really like an outdoor one, but indoor would be nice too)
Cloth napkins (for dinnertime, especially for holidays)
Queen-size bed sheets (any autumn color: orange, green, khaki, etc)
leather couches (how nice would they be for $50?)
Office chair & pad
Kitchen whisks
Vacuum packer (for bulk foods)
Food processor (because mine died a tragic death)
A cool clock like Melisa has--it's MOVES and plays music...too bad they're like $300

So, what do you vote that I should spend my $50 on? Or do you have suggestions on something else that I should want? Do share.

Go on E-bay and see how much of your wish list you can buy for $50...
or, do you have a video camera? I really want one of those...

Jill,

Which of these items are on your wish list for you? Most of these sound like their your things you want for your house. There's nothing wrong with that, but I decided after 5 years of spending my birthday and Christmas money on tuition or rent that I needed to use that money on something I want for me, but which I might not otherwise get anytime soon due to other pressing needs. LIke a new cookbook or novel or CD. That gift money was meant for me to enjoy spending, and not to simply go towards bills. However, there are times when you don't have enough for your needs, so spending money on wants is not the best choice.

I think you should get something that you might decide on if you already had all of those things, but if you feel like you must get something from that list, sheets in the right color would be right up your alley. However, I just bought sheets a month ago, and while I didn't have the money to go anywhere else but Wal-Mart, they don't really have sheets in colors that I wanted. They all seem to be cool colors. It's like buying sheets in warm colors is only available to the wealthy or violates some color rule that I'm not aware of. But maybe I should have been looking at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They probably have colors that I'd like more. Whatever you get, I think it should make you feel special. But enjoy whatever you decide on. Happy birthday, even early!

Hey Jill, click on the icon on my blog and there is a little 5 question quiz and after you answer the questions there is a link to the site to get your own daemon. The site is for a movie coming out in December which is actually based on the book I picked for book club this month. You could spend some of the money on the book club book???

Technically, it is Brad's clock, but I get to enjoy it too.

I really love Dana's jewelry (linked on my blog). She makes interchangeable watches. You could tell her what colors, sizes, etc you wanted and she could do some pretty awesome stuff. The second I get some spending cash, it is going straight to Dana. :)
