MP3 player

We are looking to buy an MP3 player. What kind do you have? Do you like it? Was it brand new or used? Where did you buy it? How much was it? How much space does it have? I have an old model that is CREATIVE brand that Tyler wants to start using. What I want is an MP3 player that can hold a lot of songs AND will keep them in separate files, such as a file for exercise music and another for church music. Is this possible - does anyone know?

You're funny, Jill! I think your best bet is to get an iPod. The amount of storage the MP3 player has dictates how many songs you can have on it. How many songs are you planning on putting on it? My iPhone iPod(Equivalent to the iPod Touch, which is pretty expensive)is 8GB, and I have about 200 songs with much more space to spare. I would think a 20GB or 40GB MP3 player would be plenty enough to store all the songs you'd ever want and more. Any more questions, let me know.

I think you can file stuff however you want. I have a SanDisk Sansa, and I like it, but it's hard to find compatible speakers and accessories. If you want to be able to easily find junk to plug it into, unfortunately you're lookin' at ipod. I don't remember the specs on mine, but D got it used on ebay a couple years ago-the guy had barely used it and decided to get something different.

I got a Microsoft Zune when they first came out. My only complaint with it is the size, but the newer generations of them are smaller.

Mine automatically categorizes music in serveral ways (artists, albums, genre), so things like "religious music" or "rock" are already set up to play separately if you want. You can easily create playlists to put together your favorite songs and exclude others, though. Most decent MP3 players will do that for you, though.

My Zune has 40 gig, which is an insane amount. I couldn't begin to tell you how many albums I have on mine, plus I have a few movies on it, and I'm still nowhere close to using up all of the space.

I have an ipod touch and I absolutely love it. I got it free with my macbook (yay for student deals!) and the 8gb model which I have holds about 1,000 songs. You can also organize them into playlists etc. based on genre, artist, play count, and more. Best of all, you can watch videos on it which is FABULOUS if you're on a treadmill and getting bored. Oh, and provided you're near a wireless network, you can surf the web, check email, or watch youtube on it. It's nothing short of amazing and I highly recommend it! Oh, and apple has amazing customer service which is a good bonus feature.

I have an ipod touch. It can do everything you want and it is amazing. You can store over 3500 songs on it. You can also do audiobooks, videos, get maps, watch movies, etc., etc. We have the 16g. It is rather pricey I think about $300 now, but worth it if you can spend that much.

We are all about the i-pods at this house - we have even gone to the Apple store online and purchased refurbished ones - it is about half the price :)

I have had my ipod for close to 10 years. I got it for Christmas when they first came out and it is still kickin'. It is only 4G, but I have never come close to filling it up. I have different categories for road trips, worship, exercise, dinner tunes and more. I'm sure you could find a good deal on an older model. Good Luck! :)

I have an iPod shuffle, but that wouldn't work for you...it's really basic. The husband had an iPod Nano until he washed it last week. He loved it...it had folders and a screen. The one I've been amazed with has been Jare's that he got for Christmas. It's a Sony Walkman, and it has a screen, plays videos, and lets you create folders. It holds as much as Mariano's iPod Nano did and we found it on sale at Walmart for $65 as opposed to $150 for the iPod. I've been super impressed by the quality, although the earbuds aren't that great. We bought a different pair of earbuds for him, still much cheaper. He promptly washed them on accident, so he's back to the cheap pair :)
