Agency and ice cream

As I've written, I had the lapband procedure over a month ago. The next step in the process is to have my first adjustment which would put saline in the lapband which would reduce the size of my stomach. After the adjustment, I would need to cook everything I eat and it would take a lot of focus and time to dedicate to it. We are moving out of our house this weekend and into a hotel. We will then clean our house and a week or so later we will move down to Florida (if all goes well with the paperwork - we haven't heard anything back just yet). So all of my kitchen cooking utensils are packed and then we'll be at a hotel for a while and then on the road for a few days. I have exercised my agency and have chosen to wait until we have moved in our new house and have for the most part settled into our new life there before having my first adjustment.

One thing that I won't be able to eat much of after the adjustment is ice cream. Tonight I had a small bowl of ice cream: vanilla with maraschino cherries chopped up in it. I am grateful that I can make decisions for myself and I am grateful for whoever invented ice cream.

Good luck with the move! It is such a pain. Good luck with the paperwork, good luck with the renters, good luck with the kids. Good luck with everything. Quite frankly, I would (and did, even though I'm diabetic) eat ice cream too. And, if it were me, I'd also wait until my life was more settled to make anymore drastic changes (like adjusting the lap band.)

Good luck with the lapband. I've heard mixed results. I was set to have it but my surgeon talked me into the bypass due to my diabetes. I've lost 110# in 8 months now but I'm quite weak and can still barely eat anything. I became lactose intolerant after surgery and sure do miss ice cream though. I get horrible dumping when I eat it so I just don't anymore :(

I thought i saw some lactose intolerant type ice cream or diabetic ice cream somewhere. I think i would cry if i had to give up ice cream! I don't eat a ton...but when those cravings come i would be sad if i couldn't have it. :( good luck with that.

Way to take charge of your own health! You need to do what's best for you and your family. I hope you're able to get things settled (we're praying for you!) and your move to FL goes as smooth as possible. Love ya!
