Don’t give up. Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead. You keep your chin up. It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come. Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of... Jesus Christ, they come. -Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Prayer, patience, and lot of looking beyond the behavior to see what is really driving it. Very often what they're whining about isn't the real issue. They may or may not even know what the real issue is. First check to see if they are hungry or tired. Those are the easy ones to fix :-).
Then check their stress level. Remember our kids have an extemely low tollerence for stress and stimulation. It's WAY lower than what most kids their age have. We spend a good portion of each and every day sitting and rocking together in the rocking chair. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we don't.
Sounds easy, right? HA! Nope, it's SOOO not sometimes. At those times, love yourself, love your kids, and don't forget to take a break.
