Blackberry

WARNING: this is a whining post by Jill. You have been warned. P.S. I am not looking for solutions, only sympathy.

And so the cell phone adventure continues in our household...a year after Tyler & I married, we got cell phones with T-mobile. I was happy with them until we moved to FL and they don't have good coverage here. So, we looked around and signed up with AT&T. I had a blackberry with T-mobile - withOUT a date plan, because I don't need one - so I got a blackberry on eBay for AT&T after we signed up with them. Well, AT&T requires a date plan for blackberry phones. This is so frustrating - because I just happen to like the blackberry phone, not the ability to use the internet on it. Who wants to check their email on such a small screen?? I have a computer at home with a much bigger screen! Anyhow, so now I have to decide if I want to pay an extra $15 per month JUST to be able to use my blackberry phone or I can just use one of those other pesky little phones. GRRR!

Yeah Verizon does the same thing and it's soooo annoying! They charge $30 a month for all the cool phones requiring internet and $10 for data plan. Such a waste of money when we have internet at our fingertips! We did hear that you can buy used phones online and they don't require a data plan. ...don't quote me on that. Good luck!

I felt the same way you do. Brian really wanted me to have the iphone. I thought it was a waste of money, but now that I have it I LOVE IT!! I love having my email at my fingertips. Sometimes it is so much faster checking my email on my phone than the computer. I also like that I can have the internet anytime. I have price checked things on my phone, looked up ward numbers from the lds.org sight etc, etc. I have really used it a lot. I also love that it can be my personal GPS. Can't wait to find out what you decide to do!!!

Is that a new thing? Because Cody and I both got Blackberries with AT&T (I got a Pearl, he got a Curve) about two years ago, and neither of us got a data plan. I have a new phone now, but Cody's still on his Curve with no data plan. It's gotta be a new requirement or something...but anyway, I'm sorry to hear it! Vent away!

I hear ya! Beth slobbered my phone and when I went to get a new one, all of the ones I wanted required the $10/month data plan. I just couldn't do it though ($120/year for 'net usage I would never use!!! Ouch!) so I went w/ a diff phone. annoying to say the least!
