Conversations with Keith

A few nights ago, Keith was putting up a stink about eating the dinner that I had made. He was such a little turkey, that I sent him to his room to think things over. After a few minutes, I went to his room to talk with him. I told him that he had a choice: he could choose to eat his dinner or he could choose to stay in his room. He said he wanted to eat, so back to the kitchen we went. Quickly afterwards, I realized that even one year ago I could not have had this conversation with Keith. He really has come so far in 2 years.

Yesterday, while the girls were in gymnastics, I spent some one-on-one time with Keithy in the van. We sang songs, talked extensively about water hoses, and what he did at school that day. Then, Keith approached me and said "Tickle!", so I began tickling him all over. This is one thing I am certain that Keith missed out on during the first 4 years of his life: physical touch. He craves it. And I have to say that I don't mind cuddling him and rubbing his legs and arms and back and tummy and tickling him. It's something that he & I do together almost everyday. And I love it.

SOOO sweet. I'm sure blog posts like these will be such treasures to him when he's grown. What a handsome little boy. He's so blessed to have a caring and affectionate mother like you.
