Girl's Camp

This was Anna's third-year to go to girls camp. The first two years were a lot more glamorous as far as the location they went to. This year it was more in the wild, and Anna did not enjoy it. I was hopeful that she would come home with some positive things to say, but instead she did clear that she doesn't want to go to camp anymore. It makes me sad, because I love going to camp when I was growing up. But I guess to each his own. Maybe it helped her develop character? Furthermore, Anna just doesn't like to have pictures taken of her, due to her acne, so the camp leaders had to take them from the side so she didn't know they were taking pictures. But here are a few.

Here's hoping that it will be better next year. I am proud of her for sticking it out this year, despite calling home for me to come get her early, which I wouldn't. She had a secret sister and had to make a homemade gift for her, and she decided to write some poetry. This was her first time ever writing poetry, and she did a great job! I'm impressed with her writing skills more more each year.

Acne is so emotionally painful. Benzoil peroxide can be very effective in clearing it.

My daughter hasn't been for 3 years. The catiness, pranks, and cliques did her in long ago. Whatever. It wasn't worth it, especially after she came home hating it and in tears more than once. She did go to a multi stake camp for Laurels this year though that was very good and very different than regular girls camp.

I'm confused. You say Anna is clear that she doesn't want to go to camp anymore then you say 'here's hoping that it will be better next year. Anna is 15 or 16 right? She says she doesn't want to go. She's an introvert so you know she doesn't like things like this. Why does she 'have' to go back? Also she doesn't like her picture taken because of the acne. Kids go through a phase and most parents respect it and don't take many pictures. Why can't you respect her wishes? She's going to grow up thinking she can't make any choices for herself :(
