Why Do We Do It?

Woke up this morning and dragged myself outside for my walk. I'm not completely used to being up at 6:45am yet...wonder why that could be. (sarcasm, please) I came home and showered while Tyler & Anna made pancakes for breakfast. Tyler then went outside to try out some gardening tips he heard on the radio, one of which is to poke holes in the ground to improve grass roots. Since we didn't have the fancy tool that you can buy, Tyler cut up two pieces of wood, each about a foot long and then nailed nails through it. He fastened each piece of wood to his foot--nail side down, of course--and then "walked" around the whole yard. Pretty creative for an engineer...although he didn't have to spend any money...:)

I spent the morning chatting with my friend, Nicki, as I prepared the turkey for it's cooking process...I couldn't figure out which end was the neck...finally I found it and put the stuffing up in the rear which in itself is such a lovely idea--eating soggy bread that spent the last 4 hours in a turkey's rear. We ate around 3pm. I took a picture of our table which was covered with food. We sang "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow," which is a tradition in my mom's family. It was a lovely meal, if I do say so myself. I made everything we wanted and we have TONS of leftovers which has been fun.

After we ate the meal, we delved into the pies. I had some chocolate cream pie and some banana cream pie. I reduced the amount of sugar in the recipe, but it was still WAY too sweet. However, I didn't let that deter me from eating it. I later had a thought: If we stub our toe, we don't keep doing it over and over because it hurts, right? So if we eat something that's too sweet and it makes your tummy upset, then why do we keep eating it?????

Tyler cleaned out the gutters, so he can put up the Christmas lights tomorrow. Anna & I cleaned up my C2 room. It's now organized so that I can scrapbook. :) We played some games as a family after reading scriptures. After Anna went to bed, Tyler & I played a game of stratego--I'm getting better at it, but it's pretty complicated. It's the Chronicles of Narnia version. My sweet husband did the dishes TWICE today. I'm one lucky woman!
