Need your advice

So, my little Keith is walking now. That makes me wonder if the crib is perhaps not right for him. I'm thinking that a toddler bed might be in order, but then - toddler beds only last so long, maybe a twin bed would be best? He's 4 years-old, after all. What are your thoughts?

We never put Carter in a toddler bed, he went straight from crib to twin, so I don't see why that would be a problem for Keith either. I guess it really depends on how long he is. Is he going to fit in a crib? I glad he is walking, though. Happy news!

I would skip the toddler bed if it were me. Both my kids went from crib to full size beds. I did put those rails up at first just to make sure they didn't fall out. Out of all my friends that used toddler beds they said the only reason was for the cost. They are definetly cheaper, but you could always just put a twin mattress on the floor for a while without a bed frame.

My two cents:
He still looks so tiny. I would think that he would still do well in a crib. It would give him a safe place to practice pulling up and walking around. He would probably be most comfortable in a crib AND you already have one.

I think if he is used to being in a crib, I'd probably go that route to start with. I agree that he is probably small for a four year old, right? Is he walking unassisted? That is great progress!

Twin. Just pad it with pillows if you think he'll fall out.

He is probably used to the crib. It will be fine until he is comfortable with his new home. My kids stayed in cribs until the age of four or so. SInce he is just beginning to walk the crib might be a good idea for now

Found your blog today! Our seven year old is in a full sized bottom bunk bed and sleeps on the very edge in a small spot. His orphanage bed was the size of a toddler bed so even almost a year later he doesn't like so much room!

I would start with the crib. When he is ready to move to a bed, I would use a twin.

I think I recognize your Keith! We adopted from A. Donetesk region in March/April. Though Kelly has been there since us I remember him being taken to Physcial Therapy past us daily. I do remember there being a set of boy girl twins in the groupa but I don't know if these were the same kids or not. Since yours are a little older I'm guessing not.

Good luck

I say use the crib you have and then skip to a twin when he's ready.

We opted for twins and it's worked great for our boys--they were 4 and 5 when we brought them home and weighing 32 pounds (both!). We opted not to do toddler beds as most of them have a weight limit of 100 lbs, and we wanted to be able to sit on our kids' beds! LOL
