No rest for the parents of a sick child

Poor little Keith. He isn't doing well. He doesn't want to drink anything - but he has diarrhea, so we HAVE to give him fluids. Since he won't drink on his own, I have to use a medicine dropper to drop pedialite into his mouth. One. Teaspoon. At. A. Time. Can you imagine how long it takes to give him even just a cup of liquid? *sigh* Oh, and he's fighting me the whole time. But, since I've been administering pedialite to him in the way - he's been having wet diapers, so it's working. It's just unpleasant. Tomorrow we're taking him to the doctor for all kinds of things - hopefully they'll be able to help us out with Keith.

I took Kristina to church today. She did beautifully through Sacrament meeting. In Primary they sang to her and she LOVED that. Then I went home to relieve Tyler from keeping Keith (Tyler had to teach in Priesthood). Apparently during the time it took me to get home and for Tyler to arrive, Kristina began hitting and pulling her teacher's hair. *sigh* I'm grateful that her teacher and for Cindy in being patient with our over-stimulated girl on her first day in Primary.

Rob told me about that... because he was in priesthood and saw it. If you need anything let me know! I'm sure it can frustrating at times or stressful and of course enjoyable.

I'll pray for your family!!!

I'm feeling your pain! The first time we took our daughter (adopted at age 6 from China) to church, I spent the whole time literally chasing her around the sanctuary! Then, she sat in the very middle of the front of the church, right in front of where the pastor was preaching, took off her shoes and threw them up in the air! Fortunately, the church had made the "journey" with us and totally understood. We laugh about it now...but then, I didn't know if I could ever have a "normal" worship time again! Three years later, she not only sings the hymns and praise songs, she will sit still through the whole sermon. It does get better! Hang in there! Hope Keith is feeling better soon.

Remember, this is all very new to her. She doesn't have much understanding or experience yet with family, church, forever, etc. To her, all things at this point are some type of an orphanage. It will take time for her to learn to trust that you are not going to leave her and that you are here to stay. Most likely, when you left to get your husband, she thought you were abandoning her to this new "orphanage" and she reacted with stress, anxiety, and fear. If you are able, for the next 6 months at least, stay with her at all times or bring her with you.

Have a blessed holiday! I know this season must be such a blessing to you all! :)

It is so draining, and sad, to take care of sick babies! (and I know he's 4 1/2, but when they're sick, they're still your little baby) Hope he recovers quickly! I'm sure once Kristina adjusts to Primary and can communicate with more people, she'll do much better. Good luck and thank goodness for your supporters there!
