Strabismus surgery

The twins had eye surgery yesterday. We were at the hospital for 4 hours. Keith had his right eye done - Kristina had both eyes done. It makes sense that Keith is recovering easier than Kristina. The pain meds (tylenol) don't seem to help a lot and they both HATE the gel we have to put in their eyes just before bed. I hope that it will be worth it - and that this procedure will help their eyes. In other news, Kristina starts school tomorrow. She is beyond excited. :o)

We did both of Danielle's eyes and it was an easier recovery than I anticipated. The inside corner of her eyes stayed red for a few weeks but didn't look nearly as bad as I had thought it would. She actually likes getting medicine (any kind) as she likes the attention, so it was pretty easy to do the gel. They told you that you can put it on their closed eyes, right? Just have them close their eyes and run a half-inch along the top eyelid at the inside corner. The gel melts with body heat and it will run into the eye where it needs to be. I tried to do it before she got up in the morning and then when she went to bed so she was laying down. It made things much easier. :)
