Random stuff

So whenever Keithy gets into trouble, he always responds with "I love YOU." Keith started pre-k today. He is in a special needs class with 3 other kids and 4 teachers. I am eager to see more progress from Keith!

Kristina is sharing a room with Anna here in our new house. She is starting to act older than before. She is growing up. Kristina started her special needs kindergarten class. Her teacher seemed really confident to help Kristina with some of her less amiable personality traits. I hope that she will learn to control her impulses, especially spitting. *sigh* Today Kristina approached me with a book. We read it together and then she brought me another book, and then another book. It was fun snuggling with Kristina and it made me eager to see her reading someday. Since we adopted her, I have been mostly thinking about her behavioral issues from her possible FAS (fetal alcohol syndome), but today I became interested in her mental progress and in her learning how to read, write, etc. Being a mother is a wonderful thing.

Anna went to her new school today and was quite timid initially, but I have reason to believe that she made friends because during lunch she spent so much time talking with friends that she wasn't able to finish her lunch before class resumed! That's my social butterfly! Anna has been making up jokes lately. Here are a few:

Why does a school turn into a boat? It pulls! ha ha!
Why did dog switch the light? Because it barked! hee hee!
How did the timer turn into an alarm clock? It mopped! giggle giggle!

(for more jokes, Anna is available most hours to tell you more)

I went to the commissary for the first time this morning. Except for one person, I only saw senior citizens walking around the store. I guess that fits the typical assumption that lots of old people retire here. Later this afternoon, I had the lovely experience of falling down on my way into Anna's school. I didn't trip - I faceplanted myself. It was awful. I cut my hand, really scraped my arm/elbow, scraped both knees, and my right knee is seriously swollen and bruised all over. Not only was it embarrassing to fall down, but it hurt, too! Thankfully there were 4 people who came to help me. I was appreciative for their kindness, even though it was hard to hold back the tears and not feel embarrassed. Whoever says that floridians aren't nice haven't lived in our town!

Tyler is still doing in-processing at the base. He is so willing to help unpack and get our home put together. This is especially helpful now when I'm supposed to keep my leg elevated for the next 24 hours. He is such an amazing man. He loves me and our children. He loves God and Jesus Christ. He leads our family in righteousness. He treats me so well. I love him immensely.

It is so neat to see the progress that Keith and Kristina are making.

So sorry about your fall. This happened to me the other day...thankfully, it was at home.

I'm glad you are enjoying the city you moved to.

I’m holding a $1 challenge over at www.findingkirilsfamily.blogspot.com, on the countdown to Christmas. Kiril is a little boy with significant special needs who has been waiting on Reece’s Rainbow for a long time, and has been bedridden in an institution for over 6 months now. My goal is to get as many people as possible to donate just ONE dollar to Kiril’s RR grant, and then pass this message on to just ONE other person of their choice.

Apart from people I know well, I’m contacting 50 people whose circumstances I’m not as familiar with - so if you’re in the middle of an adoption etc, I obviously don’t expect you to donate. But *please* pass along this message, whether you can give yourself or not.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!
