Snuggle progress

Whenever things are tough for our kids, Tyler & I have adopted the idea of snuggling to make it better. Anna regularly requests snuggles from us. However, Keith & Iryna whine at the idea when we suggest it. I know that Keith & Iryna didn't get a lot of affection the first 4 1/2 years of their lives, but everyday we give them hugs and kisses (which they like) and snuggles (which they don't like).

Last night, after Keithy was already in bed, I heard him crying. I went in to see what was going on. He had misplaced his water hose and couldn't find it. He was hysterical. (He's VERY attached to said water hose). I found the water hose and asked him if he wanted a snuggle. "Okay" was his reply. I was blown over by his response. You better believe that I quickly brought him (and his water hose that I'd found on the floor) over to the rocking chair and snuggled him up. He immediately calmed down and HE snuggled into ME this time while I rocked him. It was such a precious moment. He was upset and he knew that the snuggle would help him calm down. It was beautiful.

Yeah that's amazing progress! My youngest adopted brother had that same issue! My mom ask my brother Hammy and I to carry him around as much as possible when he first got here. now he loves snuggles and he's 10!
