Patience and Hope

This morning we got up and loaded up in the van. Tyler noticed that all the bikes and scooters that we had left outside from yesterday were GONE. Stolen. And we feel that we live in a safe neighborhood. Some of the bikes were just given to us for our new boys this past week. Very sad. :(

At church, I was praying to my Heavenly Father about several things...help me be more patient, help me begin dieting, help me be a good mother, help me, help me, help me...and then the thought came: you are asking many things. It wasn't a complaint, but more like: focus on one thing at a time, you cannot be perfect in everything all at once. Be patient. And then the talks in Sacrament meeting were on patience and hope. Very appropriate for me. One speaker, Amanda, talked about her infertility struggles. I couldn't help but think about my own infertility struggles and how it is a righteous desire to have children. I still have hope that we will have another biological child someday. And I am grateful for the 5 children that I do have. I love them all so much.

After the first hour of church, Tyler realized that Keith had wet his pants. He has been doing this for the past week or so. We wonder if it is his way of dealing with the adjustment of having the boys here. I know that it stresses him when the boys play with - and sometimes break - his beloved helicopters and airplanes. We didn't have a change of clothes for Keith and Tyler made the executive decision for all of us to come home. We had pancakes and then while Silas took his nap, Tyler and I did as well. I felt much better after an hour of sleep and made dinner while Tyler slept for a second hour.

After dinner, we all watched THE WIZARD OF OZ. It was the first time for all of the children to see it and Tyler and I hadn't seen it since our childhoods. It was very enjoyable and the older 4 children were mesmerized by it. We had a nice time, enjoyed some homemade lemon angel food cake, and then our bedtime routine. If Anna reads her scriptures, then after the younger four kids go to bed we play some wii mario kart together - just daddy, mama, and Anna. It has been a huge motivator to her and she just finished reading the whole Book of Mormon last week. Tyler is rewarding her with a trip to Wet 'n Wild sometime this summer. Now Anna is reading the New Testament. I am so proud of Anna for reading the scriptures at such a young age - 10 years old! I don't think I read them until high school/college.

Good executive decision by dad. Sounds like it was just what the doctor ordered. Some time enjoying and being with one another.

I think that is fantastic of Anna!!! Way to go! I am still prodding my gang along, trying to complete the BofM from the challenge. They were doing soooooo well, then we went on vacation and somehow all motivation was lost. So very happy Anna stuck it out and finished her goal. I am proud of you girl!

Sorry to hear about the bikes. Very disappointing.

What is Keith's favorite helicopter again? I can't remember the name.

Keep up the great work Jill. You are making a ginormous difference in your children's life. Perfection not required.

I have that same issue. I need to focus on one thing at a time... but it's so hard when there are so many things to do. I need to find a motivator and reminder plan for myself. Good luck with those new boys! WE love seeing the pictures.

So sorry to hear about the bikes :( Wish we could help with that somehow. It makes me happy to hear about your experience at church, though--you're such a spiritual example to me. Thank you for that. It's hard to focus on one thing, I know! But you can do it!

And way to go, Anna! That is so amazing of her. What a good example for your other children. She's a great big sister.
