Back to school

School happened to begin on my birthday this year. Anna is doing online college classes, Michael is doing his GED through a community program, John is at an RTC, and the other five kids (Sarah, Keith, Iryna, Calvin & Silas) are all doing remote school at home. It is exhausting for them AND me to try and navigate through new programs and try to attend each class on time. I was naive to think that it wouldn't be that difficult, but hopefully things will improve in time. Two of my kids leave their zoom calls and get on youtube or play games. I just don't think that having an iPad is the best way for my kids to learn. The temptation is too great to play around versus working.

I had a nice birthday. Michael made me mekitsi for breakfast. We did school all morning and most of the afternoon. Anna baked me a cherry chip cake and I made some homemade cherry vanilla ice cream. Tyler brought chicken empanadas for dinner - so delicious. We went around the table and everyone said things that they like about me. I opened some gifts. It was a nice day. One day, I would like to go on a vacation to celebrate my birthday. Maybe when I'm 70...

Yesterday I started back on intermittent fasting and a low carb/high protein diet. It's always difficult initially, as I only eat for 8 hours per day. After gaining 20 pounds this summer, I am extra motivated to have some success and to see the scale go down.
