I never gave much thought to mental health when I was growing up, other than the negative stigma I heard about people taking medication for depression. I married someone who has depression and most of my children have depression and other various mental challenges. Although it isn't something you can see on the outside, it is real and, at times, it is all-encompassing. There are moments when my children aren't able to do something because of a mental block. I have learned the hard way what happens when you push someone who just isn't able. Raising special needs children has taught me so much about mental health issues and healthy mindsets. I am thankful for that knowledge.
