I am pro Halloween

I am pro Halloween: dress up, go out and collect candy from your neighbors. You're probably thinking, well, aren't most people? You would think so, but here is a thought to consider: Isn't it interesting that of all the holidays that we celebrate--Halloween is the only holiday where we venture out to meet our neighbors? If we hold other activities in place of this, like the Trunk or Treat, for example, I feel that it will be yet another way that we are disconnected with our neighbors. I feel that due to other activities that the whole "trick-or-treating" tradition is dying out. (pun intended) Your thoughts?

Today I feel all cozy and domestic. I baked some homemade wheat bread (it's so soft, YUM) and some split pea soup. I feel so at home when I make food with my hands. I feel all warm & fuzzy inside. :o)

This morning I weighed in at 306. Yeah, that means I lost another 3 pounds--which totals 24 pounds since July. I can't believe I lost so much--I didn't exercise because my feet are hurting & I gave in to a chocolate craving on saturday...yet the scale doesn't lie. I'm so close to being under 300 pounds!!! Hooray!!!!!

It does seem that the tradition is dying out - but I haven't gone trick-or-treating in so long and Em is just now getting old-enuf to enjoy going out in costume.

I think that adding a treat drop-off at other holidays (Christmas, say) is a good way to re-connect with the neighboors.

P.S. Nina - your hair is getting long! :o)

I like Halloween too. I also enjoy going to my neighbors' houses to trick-or-treat and show off the costumes that the kids are so proud of. Keeton is going to be Tinkerbell and Carter is going to be Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. We haven't seen it, but he thought the costume was cool when we saw it at the Disney Store. What about Anna??

I'm not really a fan of trick or treating. It's too cold for one thing. Most people have their lights off, showing they don't want trick or treaters. We take the kids to see the people we know. That's about it. Of course, we are in a whole new town, so who knows. It will be really cold and there are no street lights in this neighborhood, so we will probably forego it again.
