General Conference

I remember when President Gordon B. Hinckley was ushered in to be the 15 president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served for 13 years as the prophet. I've always enjoyed President Monson, but I kept waiting for President Hinckley to somehow show-up and conclude the conference. However, when I heard President Monson speak during the conference, there was no doubt in my mind that he is the Lord's annointed prophet. I laughed and cried at his concluding talk this afternoon. The church is in good hands. I also really enjoyed the talk for young mothers - it was very encouraging to me.

I've been weighing myself the past few days - and I'm frustrated that I haven't lost any more weight yet, even though I'm following the diet. It's hard to feel motivated when you can see no visible success. Tyler assures me that there will be weeks without weight loss and some with weight gain - but that I should be patient and think long-term. I can deal with that, I just didn't think it would happen the 2nd week. :o(

Maggie is adjusting well to our home, I think. She weighed 5 pounds when we took her into the vet. She is SO cute and has quite a bit of energy, but also knows how to snuggle up - which I can accomodate. :o) No news on the adoption front - we're researching home study agencies and placement agencies. Once something happens, I'll be sure to post.

I have a blog you may want to check out. I don't know the woman, but she used to be in my sister's ward, and they are friends. She is still in our stake. She has adopted from Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The address is fromthetrenchesofadoption.blogspot.com. She may be able to give you some guidance.

I was also very touched by the talk about young mothers. I don't understand how anyone could say our church is discriminatory toward women. What a joke! I always feel so cherished when addressed by the leadership of our church. And you're right, what a privilege to be able to sustain our new prophet!

Sorry about the slow weight loss. However, they say that the scale isn't the best indicator of fat loss because of water weight fluctuations and muscle gain. If you've been working out regularly, you may be gaining muscle (which weighs more than fat). I've always thought the best way to judge is how your clothes are fitting. In any case, don't get discouraged... you can do it!! :) I'll see you at the gym tomorrow!

I totally know what you mean about the weight loss. It is so frustrating! I'm only in week 5 and I probably would have quit by now with the results I'm seeing if I didn't have a financial commitment in it. It is so discouraging to not see results. If I'm going to suffer, I at least want to see results for it! Suffering doesn't seem worth it without results.
