GPS

Seriously. I am thankful to have my own personal Englishman - whoever he is - to guide me around my new town. This morning 13 men showed up to help us unload the 2 moving trucks. There were so many people that they had to take turns waiting for a chance to bring a box inside AND they finished in less than an hour (I KNOW!). Today was BUSY, as you would expect. We are unpacking and it is actually less stressful than it was to pack up and move it all down to FL. I do need to get a microwave - I didn't realize how much I used one until we left ours in OH and realized that the microwave here was taken out (one of those above the oven kind), so that is on my list of to-dos. I realize that Christmas is just around the corner, but I'm having a difficult time putting on Christmas music because my house is a disaster! I am sure that once the house it put together that those overwhelming Christmas decorating urges will appear!

I felt the same way when we moved. I've never gotten to know my way around a place so quickly because of the confidence the GPS gave me to just get out and explore. I hardly have to use it now. I'm battling fatigue when it comes to Christmas Decorating. We were going to do it tonight but then lugging all the boxes around and rearranging furniture seemed to lose its appeal. Maybe next week some time. By the way, I am glad you arrived safely and can now focus on settling in!

So glad you're there, in one piece and have started the settling-in process. ;)

That's so wonderful that your new friends and neighbors showed up to help out! At least everything's in the house now, though I know how long the reorganizing and unpacking takes too :-)

I do have a suggestion for getting it done in a fun way, though. (Works like a charm when I moved in/out of my dorm room every year and/or when my room/the house gets messy). Dig out the CD player, radio, laptop (itunes), or mp3 player FIRST and hook it up to speakers. Then you can listen to music while you're working. I usually put on Pandora and sing along to all the old-timey Christmas carols this time of year. The time flies by a lot quicker than if you're working in silence :-D

My house is still in shambles and there are still boxes everywhere and I moved 3 months ago! Hope you find places to put all your stuff! Our basement is still unfinished, which means we have no place to put anything.
