CPR/First Aid

Yesterday and today I learned about CPR and First Aid AND administering oxygen. It was very informative. I didn't know what caused a stroke or a heart attack or how to help someone who's unconscious with no pulse and isn't breathing. I really feel like I'm learning something in this course. And not just information, but things I can use throughout my life to help others. It's great.

I've been struggling with Iryna lately. We're trying to find the right meds and the correct amount of meds to help with her ADHD. When it's NOT the right med or amount - she is out of control. And I don't handle her very well, unfortunately. It's a constant reminder of how little patience I have. Special needs are TOUGH! Anyhow, this afternoon I was reading up on the blogs I follow on google reader. Iryna came in the room and I picked her up and put her on my knee, while holding her against my side. I read, silently. She sat there on my knee, silent. After about 5 minutes of silence, she looks at me and said, "I love you, Mama". It was so precious. I won't forget that moment.

I forgot to mention in my last post about my 4 week long menstrual period. Yeah. You read that right. 4. weeks. long. Uh-huh. The doctor did some bloodwork and I went in for a vaginal ultrasound. Everything is normal. So, I've been prescribed some birth control pills to get my cycles back to normal. It sure seems odd for someone who's been going through secondary infertility for almost 8 years to now be on birth control pills. *sigh*

Last week was my stepdad's birthday. We refer to him now as "Grandpa Bob". I made a cake and we sang to him as a family. I want to make sure that my children know who their Grandpa is, even though he passed away back in 1999. I still miss him. Below is a picture of me and my dad when I was graduating from Seminary in 1996.

Speaking of birthdays, today is my Grandma's birthday. Oh, how I love this woman. I wish she didn't live so far away from me. I cry everytime I get off the phone talking with her. She is an RN and spent several years as a surgical nurse. Part of the reason I am taking this CNA course is because of her and her example. She is always serving others. I love you, Grandma. Below is a picture of my Grandma when she and Grandpa came to visit us in OH (just after we had adopted our twins) to give us their van. See what I mean? Always giving.

Aww, sorry about your struggles. Hope things work out for you soon. You're so blessed to be surrounded by people in this life and beyond who love you and who have set a great example for you!

I know my struggles with Joshua in no way compare to your difficulties with Iryna, but I can at least understand how having a sweet, tender moment with a usually hyper and sometimes unruly child can be so meaningful :)

So sorry about having to go on BC. Hey, maybe this will help, right? The Lord knows what he's doing!

Love you, mama!!!

Yikes! 4 weeks? That sounds terrible. Mine's going wacky in the opposite direction - shorter and unpredictable :-( I'm glad the tests came up normal - that must have been stressful!
